How to Setup CAD

Learn how to set up and link your Sonoran CAD account to Discord for automatic permissions management.

User Setup​

Setting up your CAD account is simple and ensures you have the proper permissions based on your Discord roles.

Step 1: Get Your Secret ID​

  1. Log into your Sonoran CAD account.
  2. Navigate to your Settings page.
  3. Find and copy your Account Secret ID.

  1. In our Discord server, use the /linkme command.
  2. A window will pop up asking for your Secret ID, paste the one we found in the previous step.
  3. This will automatically link your Sonoran CAD account to your Discord account. Your permissions should be granted shortly.

Step 3: Sync Your Permissions​

Community members can use the /sync command in Discord to force a permissions sync if needed.

How It Works​

Our CAD integration automatically manages your permissions based on your Discord roles:

  • Automatic Updates: When a role is added or removed, the bot automatically updates your CAD permissions to match.
  • Security: We no longer use public permission keys in the CAD. The bot automatically removes CAD permissions from users who don't have the corresponding Discord role.
  • Server Departure: If you leave the Discord server, the bot immediately removes all permissions from your CAD account (though you'll remain in the community).

Changing Your Account Secret ID​

If you need to change your Secret ID:

  1. Update your Secret ID in Sonoran CAD settings.
  2. Important: Run /linkme again in Discord immediately after changing your Secret ID.

If you change your Secret ID and don't run /linkme again, the bot will remove all your permissions on Sonoran CAD for security purposes.

Troubleshooting​

  • Permissions not updating? Try using /sync in Discord to force a refresh.
  • Lost access after changing Secret ID? Make sure you ran /linkme again after the change.
  • Still having issues? Contact a staff member in Discord for assistance.
